Crown Bingo have announced today that Alison Hammond will be the face of all of their promotions and also bingo caller on the site!

Bingo winners spoke to Crown Bingo and they told us how Alison loves the site, especially since she won £100 during the photo shoot on a scratch card.  Unluckily for Alison she was playing on a test account so she didn’t get to keep the money, but it makes funny viewing never the less!

A story caught my attention this morning, and although it is not actually about a bingo win, it could produce one!

Muriel Walton, an avid bingo player who has recently celebrated her 100th birthday, was given quite a generous present from Gala Bingo.

In a unprecedented gesture, Gala Bingo has given the great-grandmother a birthday present of 100 days of free bingo- one day for each year.

Muriel, who although over the moon about the deal, was much happier that her whole family came together for the event said “It was really nice for everyone to go to so much effort, it was great,” Muriel said. “I had a party on Saturday too an it was the first time in 12 years that all my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were in the same bingo room together. It was absolutely brilliant. I don’t know what the key to making 100 is, you’ll have to ask the man upstairs, but I guess being active as often as I can has helped.”

Although the 100 year old was delighted about the 100 days of free bingo given by Gala Bingo, she said that she would have rather been given a cheque!! And who wouldn’t Muriel!!

This past Sunday the Bingo World Championships came to an end in Limassol, Cyprus.

A story has come through today of a woman from Mississauga who won a $5,000 jackpot but was refused the winnings because she was unable to immediately present proof of her identification.

The rules of the International Centre Bingo game states that players must show identification before they can collect any winnings, a decision that has been upheld by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.

The woman claims that representatives of the bingo hall had stated that she could have the winnings if ID was presented by 12:30am but despite a friend turning up with the identification two hours prior to this time she was still refused her jackpot winnings.

It mat not sound like a big deal but a woman in Ontario has been declined her winnings from a high street bingo club for not immediately verifying her identity. So let this be a lesson to anyone playing land based bingo- take some ID just in case you win!!!
