A 58-year-old woman from Wrexham has won more than £18,000 whilst playing bingo at the Mecca Club in Smithfield Road.

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, is to share the cash with her sister after making a deal to split any winnings.

She won the National Bingo Game prize of £15,710 plus the regional prize of £2,069 and the house prize of £270. The national prize was £31,420, but it had to be shared with a player in South Shields, who also completed a full house in 45 numbers.

“It was very exciting when I realised how much I had won but it shocked the life out of my sister. It’s very much appreciated,” the winner said, adding: “I’m going to splash out on a special holiday with my husband, cruising round the Greek islands to celebrate our anniversary.”

A lucky lady playing bingo in her local Gala club in Irvine has won herself a massive £247,364.05 on the clubs high Five Game.

Not only was this grandmother laughing all the way to the bank but all the members at the club that were playing bingo when she won saw their bank balances increase by £1,126.69 as well.

The High Five game paid out a whopping £468,728.11 with all the players getting a share of half the jackpot. Duty Manager of the Gala Bingo hall, Sandra Mullen, said “Originally not many members like the High 5 game now I don’t think we have any members that don’t buy a ticket. This win is the biggest to date in our club”.

Gala Bingo are withdrawing all their land based bingo clubs from the National Bingo Game from 1st September to concentrate on the High 5 Game.

The fist winner, a 49 year old housewife called bingo in 38 numbers to take home the house prize of £30, the regional prize of £1,489 and the National Bingo Afternoon Delight prize of £8,390.

The second winner, a 63 year old woman who called bingo in 43 numbers and took home the prize pot of over £9,576.

The Walkers Club in Beaufort Park, Birmingham, was the venue where a local lady won a huge bingo jackpot, her second major bingo win at the club.
